With the growth of online shopping in the past years, more and more people are falling for scams when looking for gowns. You start looking online, find your dream dress, order the color you like, only to receive a cheap knockoff! That’s if you even receive anything at all! So here are some tips to avoid counterfeits:

– If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Reputable authorized retailers follow the designer’s guidelines. Every designer sets a minimum retail price for each dress. You will notice that if you look for a specific dress online, every authorized retailer has a similar price. Then you find that one website, with the same picture, but charging a fraction of the price. It most likely is a knockoff.

– If they have every dress available in many colors, watch out! Check the designer’s website. If that dress only shows 3 colors on the official website, but shows 10 colors on the store’s website, it is fake. And you’re lucky if you receive a dress that actually matches the color you chose.

– Check with the designer! Go to their website and look for the name of the store/website you are looking at. If they are not listed there, you can bet that dress is a knockoff.

– The best thing you can do to avoid counterfeits is to buy in store! Don’t take a chance and ruin your special event by shopping online. Go into a store, try the dress on, make sure it is really what you want. You won’t regret it! If you do need to shop online for whatever reason, make sure it is coming from an actual store with a US address.
